Your podcast's title field is one of the few searchable fields so it's important to choose your title wisely.

I recommend ensuring that you include the primary keyword you want the show to be associated with in your podcast's title, and if possible, a second keyword as well.

At the same time, you don't want your title to be a string of keywords intended for search engines and not listeners.

As a result, I often find titles that work best to be those that include your primary keyword, and at least one descriptive word that conveys the tone or differentiation of your show compared to other podcasts in your niche.

My general strategy is to keep titles short and blunt.

Short because it needs to fit on the cover art and still be readable.

Blunt, because in many places, the title and the cover art are all a potential listener might see, and few people click on a show with a random, vague, or nonsensical title.

Note:

Apple has recently cracked down on superfluous or “spammy” keywording in show titles and author tags.

Basically, until recently, we would’ve been able to go with something like “The Jeremy Enns Show: Podcast Strategy, Tips, & Hilarity” whereas now we’d be limited to “The Jeremy Enns Show”*.

* I know, it’s boring… C’mon Apple, amirite??

New shows that attempt this type of keyword stuffing will not be approved by Apple, and existing shows are regularly pulled down until the title is changed.
